Implications

Husband thinks that the new faction mounts might be a 280% ground mount. Don't quote him on that.

Some of the pets are Northrend orphans you get to look after for Children's Week and therefore not permanent pets, but which means 1 more pet a year from that holiday. That means you can get 3 a year, 9 total. (If you aren't yet 70, get there by May 1! The Outlands Children's Week quest requires level 60, so Northrend will most likely require 70.)

Some others might also be "pets" only available for limited quests, but we'll see. Personally, I think any amount of new pets is a good amount of new pets. (Unless it's zero. Zero isn't a good amount.)

There are several pets named after starting zones (i.e. Mulgore, Elwynn), which makes me wonder if they're similar to the Westfall Chicken quest or if they're new faction pets. Either way, this is one of those opportunities for financial growth I've been talking about if you're willing to get off your butt and find how you can make it easier for others to get these pets (especially on the day of the 3.1 release) in a profitable way.

One of the pets is confirmed as an arena tournament pet that you get for participating in 200 qualifier games ($20 US to join the tournament). So not all of the pets are actually available to everyone.

Please feel free to check Warcraftpets News for more updates and conjecture. They haven't updated as of this post, but I'm sure they will within the next 24 hours.

  4. This is going to be a fantastic patch! :D

Note the Aquatic ray is tooltipped as being an 'aquatic mount'. Now, in the patch all mounts are going to be able to swim through water so this is looking like it's going to be an actual underwater mount. You heard the speculation here first. Underwater mount. Silvermoon to Quel'Danas via mount anyone? :D

And yes, although I don't think your husband is correct with the 280% speed of the mounts, I do think they will be an increased speed atleast. We have faction mounts already so there has to be another draw apart from cosmetic looks. Considering that you will probably have to participate in the Argent Tournment, where mounted jousting occurs, it is looking like an increased land speed mount for the first time in WoW's history :D

May I also inform the community of Birdfall that there is also going to be a new legendary mace in the patch. It is called Val'anyr, Gavel of Ancient Kings and is looking like it will be priest, paladin, druid and shaman only. This suggests a healer orientated mace although it is collected through 40 shards much like Atiesh was in old Naxxramas so there may be the option to select other versions of it for dps/healing/tanking.

  5. Yeah, I was pretty excited about the mp5 change too until I read the caveat . . . and it's a doozy. Base non-casting mp5 is being dramatically reduced. Like 60% what it was. If you currently have 400mp5 non-casting, then post 3.1 you will have 240mp5 non-casting. Using those numbers, Pyromaniac + Mage Armor currently gets you 240mp5 casting and post 3.1 it will still get you 240mp5 casting.

    http://criticalqq.wordpress.com/2009/02/20/manamana-we-haz-numbers/

The quick summary is that casters will not see any significant mp5 change UNLESS . . . and it's a big unless . . . their current casting mp5 is 70% or more of non-casting mp5. If that's the case, then they will actually regenerate significantly less mana post 3.1 than they currently do because of the 100%mp5 non-casting cap on casting mp5 (e.g. if you have 400mp5 casting, you are capped at 400mp5 non-casting)

  6. if you have 400mp5 casting, you are capped at 400mp5 non-casting
    Or vice versa, I mean. Xmp5 non-casting => a cap of Xmp5 casting.

  7. Oh noes, you're inflicted by the same "converse about gameplay" bug that my guild is. *cry*

Birdfall prescribes at least five minutes on icanhascheezburger.com to relieve the ailment.

  8. lol . . . but, but c'mon . . . who didn't hollar & whoop when they first saw the changes to Tenacity, Mage Armor et al.? Then you start checking if it's really true and one thing leads to another . . . and man, I'm sorry. It's just . . . /sigh . . .

    It's true. I enjoy the numbers. /hangsheadinshame.

  10. *grin* My husband is a numbers man, too. I'm fond of numbers men, I just completely zone out when I'm supposed to follow what's going on.

  11. Now with a lot of new pets I´ll get that Bambi for sure! I´m stuck on 56 pets and I can seem to improve my collection soon.
