Politically Incorrect, or "Cranky at WoW Insider"

Is it just me, or does anyone else consider tea-bagging a rape reference? Maybe a lot of these guys don't actually know anyone who's been raped, so maybe they think tossing it around where no one "actually" gets hurt is amusing.

It's not.

So I got pissed at the intro example on the recent guildwatch and related my pissed-offed-ness through the contact form.

I don't care that Mike Schramm and his friends tea-bag each others' dead bodies. I don't want to know about it, but I don't care what they do on their own time, in private. But making fun of a guy who kicks someone from a raid for it?!

I want to reiterate what I've said before: rape is one of my hot buttons. I am not usually super-feminist about stuff (I didn't care about the bunny stuff during Noblegarden), but some things get under my skin and rape is one of them.

  1. Rape should get under your skin. It should get under everyone's skin. It's not funny, simulating it is not amusing, it is not an appropriate way to describe how wide a margin of victory was. No one should ever use rape or references to rape or sexual humiliation or degradation of another person as if it were humorous. It is not.

Is that something that can be effectively controlled outside of a police state? Probably not. But people who violate that basic rule are not decent human beings and should be treated like they are not decent human beings.

If simulated rape is normal protocol in Mike Schramm's raids, then they guy is a total duechebag.

  2. I don't get too upset about in-game teabagging. I just can't get bothered about it compared to real life situations, although I have sympathy for those who do.

That said, I think a person has every right to request that someone stop and their request should be respected. A joke is only funny if all the parties think it is, and once someone tells you it isn't, then continuing is disrespectful, rude, and childish. I think that Warlock was well within their rights, and I hate it when I see rude/mean behavior written off toward other players just because of the class/race they are playing.
