For those of you out of the know, the old Shattrath fishing daily (from Old Man Barlow) cycled between 4 quests, one of which could drop Baby Crocolisk pets.
These are only only only available from the quest "Crocolisks in the City," where you go to Stormwind or Orgrimmar and fish until you get a baby crockolisk and go turn it in. The other 3 dailies will not drop pets.
Warcraftpets has notified us that the pet drop rate for these suckers has been upped to about 50%!! It used to be, like, .00005% or something (exaggerating? maybe). This is a great time to dig in your heels and finish off your fishing pet collection.
I've started a thread in my guild forums where we let each other know when the quest is up on our server and suggest you do the same if you have fellow pet collectors around. :)

You move fast! I'm so excited... it needs to happen, say, tomorrow. I've been so disheartened by all the fishing pets- with the exception of the Magical Crawdad. I had pretty decent luck with that on both my Alliance mage and Albinistica- but I did the Shattrath dailies EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. on my mage until I quit last summer- and not a single one. No Crawler or Rat for Albs yet either... /sigh.
ReplyDeletePrior to 3.2, I believe the droprate was 1 in 80, or 1.25%. So, the chance to get a baby crocolisk pet on any given day was about 1 in 320 (since there was a 3 in 4 chance of not even getting the Crocolosks in the City quest), or an average of nearly a full year of doing the quest every time it was available in order to get one of the 4 different pets (Muckbreath, Snarly, Chuck, or Toothy). ;)

That would explain how I got Snarly Thursday... Yay Blizz, thank you for remembering little old me, driving Barlo nuts with my "WHERE'S MAH BUKKITT????" all the time. Now, talk to that Marcia chick, every guildie of mine that *doesn't* collect pets has the damn crab, but our pet collectors... no dice. D:

I got tired and disillusioned with it after doing Crocs in the City every time it was available for a year or so and getting nothing...even after getting my Crawdad and Strand Crawler, so this is welcome news!
