Read that article an...Bacon and tomato FTW! mmmmmm

Read that article and had kinda the same reaction. I don't wanna think about that! Gah!

But then I did. I it occurred to me... why?

Why will it end one day?

So asked around. Lots of people play at work. And the answers I got were somewhat interesting. For example, one guy said, "well, because something better will come along!" (There was an implied "Duh" there, too)

Really? What?

New game play. New worlds to explore. New technologies to make the games better. More interaction. All sorts of things are apparently going to kill WoW off.

And the whole time I thinking, "Okay, WoW. And WoW. And yah, WoW. And sure, you could do that with... WoW."

Seriously, if Blizzard has plans to "end" WoW they'd be horribly shortsighted. I can think of all sorts of things that could be done to WoW to keep it interesting and fun for years and years. And I'm not that clever.

Ending WoW just doesn't make sense in the foreseeable future.

Blinders on. Self delusion set.

I'm gonna go make a sandwich. Thanks. :)

-FriFriday Macfayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00488340330212549021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-98202484097177760.post-54591324904069317402009-06-17T23:16:32.638-04:002009-06-17T23:16:32.638-04:00Awww, well, it's really not that different tha...Awww, well, it's really not that different than most hobbies. I know tons of people that sink precious time and money into things when ultimately all they'll have to show for it is the memories and the experience.

Enjoy your sandwich and don't worry about the future!KThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02165100078263150451noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-98202484097177760.post-19648312044873617342009-06-17T17:21:15.490-04:002009-06-17T17:21:15.490-04:00Bah.

In just the quarter century that I've been playing (I missed the first 10 years), it's gone through a lot of iterations, predictions of its demise, better days & worse . . . but I'm hanging out with some buddies of mine tomorrow night for a few hours of 4th edition play. It's going to be a blast.

Some games (Boot Hill, anyone?) come & go. Others stick around. Millions of players are a strong impetus to stick around. So are dozens? hundreds? Who knows how many employees whose livelihoods are intricately tied to the game.

I've never gotten a straight answer from my Magic 8 Ball, so who knows whether or not or how long WoW will be around.

But I think it might be a little bit premature to trade your awesome new turtle (congrats!) for Hannah Montana.

Not that there's anything wrong with Miss Montana . . . and bacon and tomato is awesome. Just, you know, so is World of Warcraft. And will be for a long time I think.Jackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09440513682491672661noreply@blogger.com
